On Friday, December 16 at the Instituto Cervantes in Madrid, Julio Iglesias received the homage and recognitionthat he deserves in Spain, from the hands of Rafael Nadal.

On that day, he received two awards that do justice to a career marked by songs and success in every country, with global nº1 hits in many languages. They are the Prize for the artist who has sold the most records in Spain (23 million) and the Prize for the Latin artist who has sold the most records ever: more than 300 million, globally.

There is no-one more fitting than Rafael Nadal to give these two prizes to Julio Iglesias. Rafael, the best–ever Spanish tennis player and one of the all-time best players of the game, has achieved so many records and is still only 25 years of age. Two champions, not only in Spain but also throughout the World.

The awards ceremony has taken place just a few weeks after the release of Julio Iglesias 1, a double CD that went on sale November 22. On this album, the singer-songwriter returns to singing and recording many of the tracks that have made him one of the outstanding artists of our time. The album is Platinum in Brazil and Diamond in Colombia. He reached the first position on iTunes Spain immediately after the release.

Julio is one of the World’s ten best-selling artists alongside Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson.

No other Spanish artist has ever achieved so much. Spanish music has never before had so much international impact over such a long period of time. No one else can boast a discography of 80 albums in various languages, as he has achieved in his incredible career. Julio Iglesias has done this with songs that he has made his own, and that have set him apart, making him a unique artist.

Since forming 15 years ago in San Francisco, Train’s Pat Monahan, guitarist Jimmy Stafford, and drummer Scott Underwood have traveled a long, successful and sometimes arduous journey. Over the course of their illustrious career, Train has made its mark on music history with their Grammy-Award-winning song “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)” and chart-topping singles “Hey, Soul Sister”, “Marry Me”, “Meet Virginia” and “Calling All Angels.” Now, with their fifth album, Save Me, San Francisco, Train has channeled their early days, revisiting the roots rock sound that has made the band such a tour de force.

When looking back, Train credits the city of San Francisco with cultivating the band’s identity and foundation, so it’s no wonder than the title track of the record would pay homage to the Bay Area metropolis. “Save Me, San Francisco” is an autobiographical account of Train’s beginnings, and embodies the soul of Train as a band. Save Me, San Francisco taps into Train’s organic sound, recalling the blues and folk-infused rock that put the band on the map from the start.

Most recently, Train spent April and May of 2009 holed up in London’s Kensaltown Studios with producer Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall, Jason Mraz, James Morrison) with whom Monahan credits with helping the band get back to the roots of the first record. It is befitting that the focus of Save Me San Francisco is as uncomplicated as the record sounds.

In this day and age, career artists are few and far between, and after a decade and a half of being a band, Train is ready to present one of their strongest efforts to date. However, for a band as consummate as Train is, the band still sets its goals high and hopes the band’s fans will continue to come along for the ride.

Save Me San Francisco available in music stores nationwide, only from Ivory Music & Video, the exclusive licensee of Sony Music, in the Philippines.

In early 2010 Mark Foster, Cubbie Fink and Mark Pontius released “Pumped Up Kicks” under the guise of Foster The People. The band put the unknowingly, transmittable song on the internet and emailed it to a few friends. A year later, over 1.4 million streams and a song that every DJ from California to Australia can’t stop playing, the band announce the release of their full-length debut Torches on Columbia Records/StarTime Intl. The band will kick off release day with a performance in their hometown on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Foster The People released an EP in January that includes “Pumped Up Kicks” and two other equally contagious songs: “Houdini” and “Helena Beat.” By the end of their January residency in Los Angeles, 300 curious fans were stuck outside the over capacity Echo and forced to wait until the Coachella to see the songs take shape live. Meanwhile the fans inside experienced what the L.A. Times called, “chilled-out dance floor ready indie-pop”. The frenzy continued two days later as the band played to an over capacity crowd at the Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa.

And with the end of a successful residency, a single in the Top 15 at Alternative radio and the completion of their first full-length album, it became apparent that even in the coldest month of the year, Foster The People had created something that could withstand the winter and become more than the summer hit that BlackBook had declared of the “stunningly catchy” track last year. Foster The People had created the soundtrack for your endless summer and summer was back for good!

Foster The People will debut music from Torches starting this March when they hit the road with fellow Los Angeles acts Grouplove and Le Sands. The band will also play a handful of notable gigs at SXSW and make stops at Coachella and Sasquatch!

Watch out for the nationwide release of of Torches from Foster The People, from Sony Music and Ivory Music & Video.

Band Debuts First Single “Adolescents”

Multi-platinum rock band, Incubus, are releasing their sixth studio album If Not Now, When? on July. For their latest body of work the band re-engaged renowned producer Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Rage Against The Machine, Bob Dylan). The highly anticipated new album features lead single “Adolescents”, an inimitable showcase of the band’s frenetic rock roots. Delving further into the album, tracks like ‘Promises, Promises’ and ‘Friends & Lovers’ reveal new levels of elegance, space, and psychedelia in the band’s ever evolving sound.

“By about three songs into the writing process, I think we began to understand that we were unearthing something new,” explains Brandon Boyd about the new album. “If Not Now, When? is our unabashed, romantic, lush, sonic love letter to the world. It’s darker, slower, more rich, more refined, and more involved than anything Incubus has birthed to date.”

Having sold over 13 million albums worldwide, Incubus’ extraordinary career has spanned over a decade, and includes six studio albums, which have spawned a total of thirteen Top 10 Rock hits with four singles debuting at #1 upon their release. The multi-platinum quintet’s last studio album Light Grenades debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 (highest charting album debut of band’s career) and has sold over 800k copies to-date in the US.

Hailing from Calabassas, California, Brandon Boyd, Mike Einziger and Jose Pasillas formed Incubus in 1991 while they were in high school with Chris Kilmore joining in 1998 and Ben Kenney joining in 2003. The band’s break came in 1999 with the singles, “Pardon Me,” “Stellar” and “Drive,” from their second full-length, double-platinum selling disc Make Yourself. The group’s third album, Morning View, released in 2001, debuted at #2 on the album chart and included the radio hits “Wish You Were Here,” “Nice to Know You” and “Warning.” In 2004 Incubus releases A Crow Left of the Murder which achieved platinum status on the strength of the #1 hit “Megalomanic.”

If Not Now, When? is available in music stores nationwide for P430, only from Ivory Music & Video and Sony Music.

Earlier this year Cook recorded the farewell song for the 10th season of American Idol, which can be heard every week this season. The song, chosen by American Idolcreator and Executive Producer Simon Fuller, is a remake of Simple Minds 1985 smash “Don’t You (Forget About Me)”.

After winning the Idol crown in season 7, Cook went on to sell over 1 million copies of his self-titled debut album and set out on a year long nationwide tour in support of his multiple hit singles. Released on November 18th, 2008, David Cook (19 Recordings / RCA Records) entered the Billboard charts at #3 and the digital album charts at #1, marking the best debut from an American Idol winner since 2006. Collectively the songs from David Cook have sold over 2 million tracks and ringtones combined. Cook’s coronation single, “The Time of My Life” was certified platinum and is not only the biggest single debut but the highest selling coronation single in the show’s history.

It must also be remembered that this track also became one of the theme songs of the wedding of popular Filipino singers. Now, with Filipinos being a sucker for love and romance, this track instantly became a hit. Also fall in love with its music video now on channels MYX and Channel [V].

It is likewise a celebration for Train as they recently received third Grammy Award as their hit song “Hey, Soul Sister” took home the award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

Train frontman Pat Monahan said, “It’s been beyond our wildest dreams to have the success we have had this past year, and a Grammy completely takes it over the top. We can’t thank our fans enough for always sticking with us.”

“Hey, Soul Sister,” the biggest-selling song of 2010, continues to reign at AC Radio and on sales charts as well. Certified five times Platinum by the RIAA, “Hey, Soul Sister” is the #1 most downloaded song in Columbia Records history with more than 5 million legal downloads.
