Two Version of Justice 0

Posted on September 02, 2009 by laszlo

‘Probe Profiles’ on Wednesday focuses the spotlight on two of Philippine high society’s most controversial families and an unsolved murder case that has exposed and widened the rift between them.

The Quirino-Gonzalezes, descendants of President Elpidio Quirino, and the Delgados, scions of a business empire, open their lives to Cheche Lazaro as they present conflicting accounts of a crime that shocked the rich and famous: the murder of businessman Rico Delgado.

Lazaro follows the union of the two families from the romance between a widow and a widower, Doña Vicky Quirino-Gonzalez and Don Paco Delgado. She understands the friction between the two camps, escalating to the murder of Don Paco’s son, Rico, in 2007.

In interviews with Lazaro, both families cry injustice as the Delgados blame Rico’s death on Louie Gonzalez, his stepbrother, and as the Quirino-Gonzalezes raise questions about Louie’s imprisonment and non-release even as the Supreme Court has affirmed the dismissal of the case against him.

Watch this mind-boggling story of a mysterious murder and two families laying claim to their own versions of justice on September 2, Wednesday, after ‘Bandila’ on ABS-CBN. ‘Probe Profiles’ is replayed Fridays at 3 a.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. on the ABS-CBN News Channel. The episodes may also be viewed for free on Probe’s official website, www.probetv.com.

Condemned to two life sentences for raping a minor, he had his punishment cut short by President Arroyo last March amidst much controversy- -and fanfare in his home province. Cheche Lazaro documents Jalosjos’s return for the new show Probe Profiles and asks him the hardest questions about the celebrated child rape case, his rise to power from very humble beginnings, and his future political plans in the land where he is treated not so much as a convict as he is a beloved leader.

ProfilesJalosjos speaks off-the-cuff about his rape case, his grip on Zamboanga politics, and his past, including the women in his life, in a one-on-one interview with Lazaro on Probe Profiles this week.

Interviewing his family, friends, and political opponents, the veteran journalist paints the picture of a politician convicted for rape but still entrenched in power, thanks to a loyal political following and vast resources.
