“Avatar” is millions up by the week

Still hovering at the top of the box office on its fifth week of release, James Cameron’s “Avatar” bucked in US$ 1.63 billion in worldwide receipts nearing to surpass “Titanic’s” worldwide US$1.83 billion feat.   After winning Golden Globe’s Best Director and Best Picture for Drama, 20th Century Fox keeps on modifying its figures as “Avatar” continues to exceed expectations in the domestic and international front.

In the Philippines alone, the movie has raked in P212 million so far making it The Biggest Fox Film All-Time way surpassing “Titanic.”  The technopic made the local market attuned to today’s 3D technology and raised the moviegoing experience a notch higher.

Mr. Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. (F.E.), Inc., distributor of 20th Century Fox films in the country expresses his profuse gratitude to those who have supported the release of “Avatar.”  “We are very thrilled with the Golden Globe wins of “Avatar” and with its box-office performance in the Phils. where it has already surpassed “Titanic,” the current no.1 worldwide box-office hit.  We are also fortunate to be able to show “Avatar” in IMAX 3D, digital 3D and 2D, giving everyone the opportunity to see this film at its best,” Mr. Soliven enthuses.
