Oscar-nominated actress Natalie Portman (“Closer”) is making her directing debut on Vivendi Entertainment’s romantic comedy/drama “New York, I Love You” – a compilation of intertwining short love stories of various kinds.
She joins an eclectic group of some of today’s most imaginative directors that include Jiang Wen, Mira Nair, Shunji Iwai, Yvan Attal, Brett Ratner, Allan Hughes, Shekhar Khapur, Fatih Akin, Joshua Marston and Randy Balsmeyer, who are all contributing their own vignettes in the film. “ New York , I Love You” invites the audience into the intimate lives of New Yorkers as they grapple with, delight in and search for love.

Columbia Pictures to handle Philippine distribution
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has signed a three-year marketing and distribution deal with CBS Films, under which Sony Pictures will handle international theatrical distribution of CBS Films productions (including the Philippines), it was announced Nov. 17 by Peter Schlessel, president, Worldwide Affairs for Sony Pictures, and Jeff Blake, chairman, Sony Pictures Worldwide Marketing & Distribution. The deal also includes worldwide distribution of the unit’s films in the home entertainment marketplace.

Fresh from playing voodoo queen Tia Dalma in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, exciting actress Naomie Harris returns to the screen as Europol agent Mika in Warner Bros.’ new action-thriller “Ninja Assassin.”
In the film, while investigating a series of strange murders, Mika stumbles onto the notion of the nine ancient clans that have trained assassins—ninjas—to perform murders for a fee: the price of a pound of gold. But she is getting too close, and she is now marked for death. Renegade ninja Raizo (Rain) saves her life, and they are forced to go on the run together.
