Integral to the story of Columbia Pictures’ new life-affirming comedy “Julie & Julia” is the support Julia Child and Julie Powell received from their husbands. “It’s about partnerships and how you can support each other in good times and bad,” says Meryl Streep.  Playing the men behind their wives’ success are Stanley Tucci (“The Devil Wears Prada”) who portrays Paul Child, and Chris Messina (TV’s “Six Feet Under”) as Eric Powell.

Pedicab to perform live at the SM Malls! 0

pedicab_shinjiAfter the phenomenal success of their hits Ang Pusa Mo, FX and Simulan Mo Na, the pioneers of dance-punk, more commonly known as “dunk” are back with an improved repackaged album!

Pedicab is here with the Deluxe Edition of Shinji Ilabas Mo na ang Helicopter, complete with new remixes by DJ Funk Avy of their chart topping hits “Ang Pusa Mo” and “Simulan Mo Na”, as well as the bonus track and Frenzy jingle, “Sandali”!

Move to the synthesizing beats and bass lines from the winners of the 2008 Myx Music Awards for Best Rock Video (Ang Pusa Mo) and the Nominees for Metro Manila Film Fest’s “One Night Only” (Ang Pusa Mo as Theme Song).

To date, Pedicab has a growing list of repertoire, mostly originals. Their latest album, Shinji, Ilabas Mo Na Ang Helicopter, under MCA Music, proves to be a success. Their single “Ang Pusa Mo” has receiving frequent air play to various radio stations and “Ang Pusa Mo” also won as Favorite Rock Video in the 2009 Myx Music Awards.

Pedicab’s use of vintage analog synthesizers instead of the traditional bass guitar, as well as Diego’s quirky vocal style and eclectic lyrics, have given Pedicab a unique sound, reminiscent of ‘80’s synthpop, but with a garage rock flavor.

Pedicab is also psyched with their newest single “Simulan Mo Na”. Instituto Cervantes stages the grandest Spanish film festival in Asia 0

It’s a triple treat for film buffs as Instituto Cervantes de Manila brings back Película, the biggest annual Spanish Film Festival in Asia, at chosen venues in Metro Manila from October 1 to 31.

Due to the past successes of its first seven seasons, organizers have doubled the number of films (this year more than 40!), gone from one to three venues and lengthened the film festival. Cultural events have also been calendared, in line with the theme of this year’s festival: Locos por el cine or Adik sa Pelikula.

Amy Adams blogs her way to happiness in “Julie & Julia” 0

In 2002, Julie Powell took on a year-long culinary quest: cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child’s book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” She chronicled her trials and tribulations in a blog that caught on with the food crowd.  Now, her kitchen adventure is brought to the screen in Columbia Pictures’ comedy “Julie & Julia” with no less than Oscar-nominee Amy Adams (“Doubt,” “Enchanted”) playing the character.
