Summer is halfway done, but the sizzling reception for Cartoon Network’s Chowder shows no signs of cooling down. Latest ratings data reveals that Chowder achieved the highest ratings across all cable networks*, placing the channel well ahead of its closest competitor and demonstrating the series’ strong appeal to Pinoy kids.

“Cartoon Network is all about innovation and inspiration, and Chowder’s exploration theme speaks to these values. Additionally, Pinoy kids told us, via our pre-launch Online Survey that they really enjoyed cooking, with over 86% saying they liked it and 87% of kids believe cooking is an important skill to have,” said Lucien Harrington, Vice President, Branding & Communications, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia, Inc. “This positive attitude towards cooking and exploration as well as the amazing ratings indicate that Pinoy viewers feel a strong connection with the show.”

Further cementing the relevance of Chowder in the Philippines, survey results reveal that Pinoy kids love to get busy in their kitchens and see cooking as a fun activity to BOND AND ENJOY with family members. Moms are everyone’s favorite cooking companion with 73% of respondents choosing their moms as the person they would like to cook with most, while daddies are the chef-of-choice for 28% of Pinoy kids.

Cartoon Network has also invested in a major marketing campaign – Chowder’s Chow Down – to give one lucky Pinoy family the chance to win an once-in-a-lifetime trip to dine with the Giant Pandas in Hong Kong. With the contest running till May 29, kids still have the chance to join the fun by picking up the Chowder clue cards from Kids Republic and Fun Ranch, and in May editions of Total Girl and K-Zone. With the help of the “Scratch and Sniff” clue cards, kids can tune in to Cartoon Network and find out what secret ingredient Chowder uses in his latest dish! Finally, Chowder’s success will extend beyond television and foray into Glorietta Activity Center when the star cast of the show – Chowder, Mung Daal and Panini – cook up a sweet and Chowderlicious family event at the SM Mall of Asia on May 10. The endearing gang from Marzipan will dish out servings of fun and games that will surely put big smiles on everyone’s faces this very special Mother’s Day.

A popular dish among kids, Chowder is served on Cartoon Network weekdays at 6PM.

About Chowder

Chowder is created by C. H. Greenblatt, a veteran story board artist at Cartoon Network Studios and the creator and voice of Fred Fredburger in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy. Set in Marzipan City, where Snail Cars crowd the streets and colorful citizen hustle and bustle, Chowder, an aspiring young chef in training creates culinary chaos, from his humorous attempts at making ‘thrice-cream’, ‘grubble gum’ and ‘blutter’.

Ideal for family viewing, this series is designed to appeal to fans of all ages – from kids to parents with its combination of imaginative storytelling, phenomenal animations and its quirky yet loveable characters. The original series also represents the next evolution in children’s animated comedy. Using a combination of traditional animation, stop-motion animation and puppetry, the series takes audiences on a whirlwind adventure of color, chaos and imagination.
